On the drive to train

In the last eight months Dutton Plastics Engineering Management took a decision to partner with all Public FET (further education and training) colleges and technical schools. There are 50 colleges and 15 technical colleges/special schools that were contacted on this drive. Three technical colleges, two FET colleges, and three special schools have been visited by company officials, and the response has been very positive.

During these visits, Dutton has donated products such as cisterns; front, top and dual flush and inlet-valves. Technical support was provided with a view as to how to save water. FET colleges/technical schools on the other hand suggested that such a partnership should consider also the placement of learners for their practicals, as this would assist plumbing learners in completing their portfolio of evidence. A fair value of these partnerships is emphasised, where success will be measured through leaners being placed in the plumbing industry, and recommend Dutton’s product upon qualifying. on the drive
Open day, PCD College Pretoria.

A successful open day was held on 24 April for 15 (almost qualified) plumbers from Pretoria visiting DPE premises. Dutton as a company is going to endeavour to promote these open days to give DPE more exposure to the real end users, the real customers.

George Mdlalose, Human Resources Manager for Dutton Plastics Engineering, says that, “everything is on track for the support of the Public FET colleges and technical schools, and that it would be appreciated that other plumbing stakeholders participate in these partnerships to assist our industry to make it more attractive to our youth, and thus contributing to the skilling of the unemployed, and in return benefits companies”.
